"Guccio Gucci, was the son of a Florentine leather craftsman born in 1881 in Florence, Italy. At a young age he acquired an appreciation for the sophistication and aesthetics of cosmopolitan culture, while working as an elevator operator at the Savoy Hotel in London. Guccio Gucci opened his first shop in 1921 crafting and selling luggage and saddlery upon his return to his native Florence. The Gucci perfume history began when fragrances were introduced with Gucci no. 1 in 1974."
